Rare bird

A male Bulwer's, or wattled, pheasant balances on a branch. The species as a whole is in a precarious position. Its Borneo habitat is being cleared, leaving the pheasant with little room to survive. Meanwhile, it is not reproducing well in zoos, where conservationists hope to keep population numbers up and generate concern for the birds' plight.
