** Trinidad & Tobago... national flag

National Flag and its symbolism:

The national Flag was designed by an Independence Committee, and was chosen to be used as the national flag in 1962 - the year of our Independence.

RED - The vitality of the land and its people, the warmth and energy of the sun and the courage and friendliness of the people.

WHITE - The sea by which we are bound, the purity of our aspirations, and the quality of all men under the sun.

BLACK - The dedication of our people joined together by a strong bond. It signifies strength, unity and wealth of the land.

*It is said that the colours chosen represent the elements Earth, Water and Fire which encompass our past, present and future, and inspire us as one united, free, vital and dedicated people.
