"My Reprieve"

I've been walking along this forlorn road,
Weighed down with my baggage and emotional load.
I trudge along broken and numb,
To the abyss of despair I do succumb.

I search for answers in everything I see,
Wondering what's the cause of things that happen to
me.
Is this my destiny? Is this truly my fate?
Will this pain in my heart ever abate?

At times it seems like too much to bear;
The end result is always a tear.
I look up at the Heavens and beg for a reprieve;
Hoping for a day when my heart will no longer grieve.

My heart has abandoned me, my hope is all but gone-
But I can't win this; my energy has been drawn.
Silently I resign myself to my agonising fate-
Death please take me; for you I await.
